I can see where you might see it as semantics. But there is a very big difference between ego-self that drives the monkey mind and the deeper Self within. If we have some sense of the deeper Self, we can draw on that and bring in a sense of peace and confidence that will not be disturbed by the vagaries of life.

Rooting our confidence in the stories of the ego is rooting our beliefs in illusion. Sooner or later, it will disappoint us.</description>
